Zulutrade - Top Providers by Live Trade - 12/4/2009

Welcome back to the steamy Zulu jungle.

To your left please find the top 20 Zulutrade providers by Live Trade for trades closed from 11/29/2009 through 12/04/2009.

Cheetah moved up to the #1 position on the list, from #2 last week.

Our other favorite TheKillerz moved up to #22 on the list (not shown on the left) from #55 the prior week.

I took a at 3A, Digital-Pip-Bot, and 303pips, but they all generate a bit too much drawdown for my taste. Let me know if I'm overlooking any good providers here.

I made some good progress on the 'Providers with consecutive trades with drawdowns less than 100-pips" query. But it needs some more work before I'm ready to post. So check back later for that and have a great day.

  1. I would definitely be interested in knowing about the providers in the -100 pip or less draw down category.

Its getting kind of crazy as I now am starting to realize why people use some of these signal providers with larger draw downs. Micro accounts! I just took a quick look at SURFING and since I am lacking in activity this month from my picks, I am going to add him to my demo account. He came out looking good if I gave him a -300 pip stop and used him in a possible micro account. I want to confirm as such with a demo. So much fun!

  2. JT-

Thanks for the comment. I'm still working on that post, and its looking pretty good. I should be able to get it out in the next 24 hours.

In terms of Surfing, when I run him through my 2-lot, 180 pip filter, he has 619 pips profit, but -356 pips in drawdown. So his profit factor is just 1.69 which is positive not spectacular.

He hit my -180 pip stop 9 times in his 212-trade (filtered) history. This isn't terrible, but since we all hate drawdown, its better to avoid it if possible. That's the idea of the query, to find providers with a large winning percentage, and a good stop discipline with all losses less than 100 pips.

Check back later and take it easy,

    Chris

  3. Definitaly... I would never trade SURFING in a mini account. You would have to probably twist my arm to get me to trade him in a micro account as well. You are right, looking at SURFING's data shows he has no stop dicipline (does not like to take a loss). Which I suppose means you would need to create your own stop, as with no stop dicipline = ticking time bomb for your account. The good thing with SURFING is he has 2 points better than the common "I don't take losses, I open multiple trades, I have no stop dicipline", signal provider rabble. That is it appears, and I am going to demo to make sure, that he does not open multiple trades at the same time but instead has multiple trades in a day. One opens then closes before he opens another one. The second point, and this is probably just luck, he has not drawn down past that -356. Most others that trade in similar will have draw downs into the -1000.

At any rate no rush on that list.

    Talk to you later.

  4. Seems there is a building consensus that DRAWDOWN is one of the most important metrics. And I don't mean the drawdown shown by Zulu, but the max drawdown you observe by scanning the trades. They shall be known by their worst trades (drawdowns)! It's kinda like measuring quarterback performance - nice to have all those touchdown passes and completions, but these pretty stats can be more than cancelled out by interceptions.

The more I view the raw data, the more I conclude that King Trade is the best trader. Check his individual trade drawdowns - they are miniscule relative to nearly every other trader. And his win% is near 100; and his trades seem to be at inflection points; and because he doesn't trade all that often, he likely puts a lot of thought into the trade. Cheetah is pretty good too, on both win% and individual trade drawdown. But TheKillerz has some fairly severe drawdowns, and that means for me he doesn't qualify for my account just yet.

  5. Redford-

Yes, drawdown is the second most important thing to look at after total profit. And third is the win size which i'm finding has to be at least 20 pips to overcome the occasional drawdown.

Take a look at my new post on the topic and let me know comments,

    Chris
